The Chevrolet Impala is a full-size car offered by General Motors since 1958. The Impala is known as Chevy’s flagship passenger car, with annual sales of over 200,000 units in the early 2000s and peaking in 2007 with over 300,000 units sold. It was offered as a mid-size car in its eighth and ninth generations, spanning the years 2000 to 2016.

In 1958, GM celebrated its 50th production year. It introduced the Impala as a top-of-the-line Chevy Bel-Air. The first Impalas came with 4,640-cc V8 engines, topping at 250 hp. A 5,700-cc V8 was optional, boosting output to as much as 280 hp. In the Impala’s first year, it represented 15% of all Chevrolet production, offering 55,989 Impala convertibles and 125,480 coupes.

In 2018, GM announced that it would end production of the Chevy Impala. For its final model year, the Impala comes in three trims, LS, LT, and Premier. LS and LT trims are built with a 2.5-liter I4 engine, outputting a modest 197 hp. In contrast, Premier comes with a 3.6-liter V6, maxing at 305 hp and 264 pound-feet of torque. Gas mileage doesn’t suffer much from performance, going from a combined 25 mpg to 22 mpg for the high trim. The Impala Premier features 19-inch machine-face aluminum wheels, perforated-leather seating, chrome exterior mirror housings, and rear parking sensors among other upgrades.
