The Buick Verano is a relatively new Buick compact sedan that was introduced in 2010. Its debut came more than a decade after Buick’s last compact car, the Skylark, was marketed. A hatchback version of the Verano is also available in other markets. Although production of the third-generation Buick Verano has continued, it was sold only under the first generation for the US market. Locally, between 30,000 to 40,000 units were sold annually.
The last that US buyers saw of the Buick Verano was for the 2017 model year. It was available in three options: 1SV, Sport Touring, and Leather Group. All models came with a standard 2.4-liter inline-four engine that produces 180 hp and 171 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive and a six-speed shiftable automatic transmission were both standard.
Buick Verano Best Features
Going for the 2017 Buick Verano Leather Group which at the time cost nearly $6,000 more than the base model, you got excellent features inside the compact sedan. These included a 7-inch color LED touchscreen with USB and AUX ports, a nine-speaker Bose premium sound system with subwoofer, Bluetooth, heated power front seats, color-keyed carpet floor mats for the front and rear, a heated leather steering wheel, remote start and keyless entry, cruise control, dual-zone automatic air-conditioning, blue ambient interior lighting, and QuietTuning Buick exclusive laminated noise-canceling front and side glass.
Is the Buick Verano Good on Gas?
EPA estimates for the 2017 Buick Verano were 21 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. This is solid gas mileage for a premium car. To maximize your car’s fuel economy, use only quality OEM oil filters, spark plugs, and other maintenance parts.
